The Twitter Chain
In case you don’t know, Twitter is the latest popular social messaging forum. You just sign up, link it to your phone†, and you’re in! You can:
- follow your IRL friends online
- follow online friends online
- find out what they’re doing or what they’re thinking (or sometimes, annoyingly, with whom they’re conversing)
- meet new people
- and more!
- also, you will have a ton of fun in the process
To start yourself out, here’s a few twitter users you need to immediately add:
about12minutes (that’s us) | jayv (that’s me)
Want more? Raiv (there’s a Twitter user, too) posted a blog about getting more friends. At “Want more Twitter Followers?” you can drop your twitter name and await the fun! Of course, it’s never that simple. Like any pyramid scheme, you have to add the other friends on the list—as well as your own—for it to work.
Now, I’ve never really partaken in any pyramid schemes, because
- it’s illegal, and
- I knew that most people would just add their name to the list and not bother sending the dollar.
But in this case, I see it
- as not illegal, and
- as a lot easier than finding the dollar bills you don’t want, writing an address, photocopying a page, and going to the post office for the stamps
So go on, join Twitter, enjoy the fun. Even if you don’t get it right now, you’ll get it once you’re hooked in.

† You do not have to link Twitter to your phone to use the service, but Twitter is designed to be best utilized with SMS technology. Also, and obviously, Twitter sends text messages to your phone. Be sure your plan can support a massive influx of text messages, because once you get going, you’re gonna get going!
