Starbucks embroiled in a lawsuit

So, hot on the newswire Saturday was a woman named Jordan Triplett, of Knox County, TN. What was so important about her that a blog in Philadelphia is talking about her? Starbucks Gossip mentions what Knox News reports. “Jordan Triplett went for a morning pick-me-up from Starbucks and wound up with first-degree burns.”

According to the lawsuit, as reported by Knox News, she ordered coffee from a Starbucks drive-thru window—and may I take a moment to point out that how come the South gets drive-thru Starbuckses, and we don’t?? —and she noticed that the lid was not on properly. “[She] balanced the extremely hot cup of coffee on her thigh with her hand on top of the cup as she pulled away from the window and negotiated a turn onto the roadway.”

That’s when she spilled it all over her lap, causing, “severe blisters and burns on her hand, inner thigh and vaginal area.”

I posted a comment on Starbucks Gossip, and it goes a little bit like this:

In all honesty, Ms. Triplett, how could you think it is not even negligent of yourself in the first place to, have coffee on your lap while you are driving? I would offer condolences for the burns in your inner thigh and vaginal area, except you negated any sympathy from me by your frivolous lawsuit. Take some responsibility for your own actions and rescind your lawsuit.

Not that she’d ever see the comments, unless she really is some attention whore and loves reading all the nasty things people will be saying about her. And I’m sure there will be people in support of her lawsuit, who believe her allegations have merit. But, anyway, every morning I wake up wondering what kind of crap the world can come up with that I can laugh at. This was today’s.

Now I wonder a few things, dear reader. If you would be so kind as to comment our wonderful blog and answer or suggest an answer or opinion to the following: (a) What do you think of this lawsuit? and (b) What goes on in our world that simultaneously irks you and makes you laugh?

I think that Starbucks should NOT be help responsible for this. They have actual rules about hot hot their beverages should be (I know this having worked for on in a Barnes & Nobel). It’s not their fault she doesn’t know how to drive while holding a cup of coffee. If anything, she should be fined for not driving with both hands on the wheel as state laws require.

Or if she did have both hands on the wheel, she should be fined for trying to defy laws of physics.

    Moron.

Actually, there’s a few places in Western PA with drivethrough Starbucks. :P

And I’m sorry, anyone with half a brain should realize that balancing hot coffee on yourself while driving is stupid. Hold it between your thighs or use a cup holder…did she not have cup holders?…but don’t balance it. While turning. That’s just dumb. And I hope the judge tells her that. “Ma’am, I’m sorry for your injuries. But DAMN are you dumb!”
