More news from the Hollywood Land! Paula Abdul (pictured, left) had an obsessed fan named Paula Goodspeed. The thirty-year old wannabe American Idol contestant was shot down on the show, and next thing you know, she’s overdosing in front of Abdul’s home.

ABC News reports, and I commentate. I sit here wondering how one can be so messed up in the head that she would die in front of Paula Abdul’s own house.

Of course it’s tragic. That goes without saying. Just because one wants a beautiful smile, she gets ridiculed on national television? But anyone should have been expecting that, good voice or not.

I don’t watch “American Idol.” I’m against most reality-based game shows. Never got into Survivor, that worldwide race game, Big Brother…. never cared. But the first episodes of “Idol” are always entertaining because you get to see just how horrible America’s worst are. They’re also depressing to me, because some singers who are better than me get turned down, but I digress.

“Idol’s” season-starts had bits where some really good singers were turned down because they weren’t attractive. And all three judges had, at some point, stated, “It’s about the image.”

Even if Goodspeed could sing—and I say that because she sounded like she was tone-deaf and was eating marbles—I’m sure she would still have been turned down because those braces took up over half her face. She screamed “Proud Mary” like she was trying to frighten a lion back into its den, and couldn’t even see that over half of her song was about as dodgy as Lindsay Lohan’s latest movie.

It’s very sad that she kiled herself in front of Paula Abdul’s house, but blaming a TV show that has had a track record of poking fun at auditions for just about anything is just 100% daft. I hope it doesn’t come down to that, because it’s just another case of a crazy person being crazy, and ending in tragedy.
