Today started off on a bit of a wrong foot. First the Vagary.tv crew (of which I am a part of) boarded a shuttle that dropped us off at the wrong convention center. We then decided to walk the three miles from the wrong convention center to the correct one, arriving roughly 45 minutes prior to what time we thought we could get onto the show floor. The team head over to pick up our press badges and guess what? I am already there at the show. Someone managed to pick up my press badge with no ID (there was even a little star next to my crossed off name saying NO ID). After proving to them I was who I said I was we attempted to get onto the show floor but once again something was out there to thwart us and the show doors were not to open for another two hours. At that point I decided I needed some food and drink and so Reid and I headed out to get some eats and some Boston Lager. After that it was finally show time.
After the show doors opened we hit up the SEGA booth in the very back corner of the show. All they had to show was the recently released 360/PS3 JRPG Resonance of Fate and the already released DS JRPG Sands of Destruction (which oddly enough was in my DS at the time). After seeing some games that were already out we hit up something that is coming out very soon, that being Split/Second. Expect a more detailed write up of my impressions early next week but suffice it to say it is a lot of fun to play. There is a great sense of speed and the destruction is a blast.
After Split/Second we decided to cruise the show floor for a bit and then hitting up Skate 3 at the EA booth. As I have not played a skateboarding game since Tony Hawk: Pro Skater 4 I had no idea how to control the game and nobody really wanted to help me out any. So my impressions of Skate 3 are, it looks nice and the bail outs are awesome to watch but I can not comment much further than that. However frustratingly giving up on Skate 3, I wandered over to the upcoming XBLA first person shooter, Breach. You can expect a more detailed preview of Breach soon but the short version is that it is a modern team based shooter that will come set with four maps with a fifth map to be unlocked for free at a later time (think how Battlefield 1943 released Coral Island) with a price point of $15.
Then it was back to the other side of the show floor to check out APB by way of some kickass gaming tables, which the booth help told me was not coming to XBOX 360 but I think he may have been wrong on that one. Regardless I got to get into a match that had about 100 total people (many of which were off site participating in the closed beta). The game itself reminded me a lot of GTA4′s multiplayer mode, completely with some loose controls but absolute mayhem going on on screen. As a PC game, I think I skip this one but if the booth help was wrong and it does release on the 360, you can most likely count me in. After APB we hung around the Ubisoft booth a bit checking out Prince of Persia. I did not actually get to play it yet, so expect impressions of that tomorrow or Sunday.
Finally we had a private demo of Making History II for the PC and Puzzle Quest II for the XBOX 360 (also coming to the Nintendo DS). Making History is a turn based strategy game that seems to do a lot of things right. as for Puzzle Quest II, it seems to be Puzzle Quest with just enough new things to entice players to go on the new quest. Expect a detailed preview of both later this week. While waiting for my Puzzle Quest II appointment I saw the trailer to Spec Ops: The Line and I have to say, that game looks impressive.
I closed out my first day of PAX East with the panel, Bringing up the Next Generation of Geeks. While the panel was not quite what I was expecting I did find it entertaining and providing the audio audio out good I may be able to share that panel with you in the near future.
Here are some pictures for your viewing pleasure.

Check back tomorrow for a Day 2 update.
