Today’s question: Have you ever heated water in a ceramic mug in the microwave? I do this when I make myself a cup of tea. It tastes good with a little lemon juice or 2 spoonfuls of honey… If I pour it into a travel mug that is not ceramic my drink tastes burnt. Anybody know why?

Hi, Welcome to My Daily Gripe. Today’s issue is my job search. One of the reasons some of us are on a job search is because we need money, yes? One of the places we go to search is the internet. The internet has various sites and sources for helping people find jobs. I don’t want to name any of them so I don’t get in trouble. My gripe is that some of these sites and sources charge us for some of their services. Ok so let me get this straight. I can post my plain ol ugly resume, cover letter, etc. or I can pay you to make it look pretty, clean, and stand out from the rest… Why do these sites think I am looking for a job? I don’t have money to pay for your services. Can I spell it out any louder? Oy, is this truly a never ending cycle? Am I doomed to living with my parents forever? Why do peanut butter and jelly compliment each other so well? (Geeze, I must be more hungry than I thought.) I mean how else am I going to pay for my posts on the singles sites?!

Hey Girls and Guys, I would like to ask the City of Brotherly Love and Friends if they have any thoughts on my state’s Gov’ner Mark Sanford and his behavior. After all, when Pres. B.O. asked if the state of South Carolina would like some more money, my gov said no thanks. I guess he wasn’t thinking with his head that day hmm…

Hi all! I’ve been doing some thinking lately. (Yeah I know. Can’t hardly believe it huh?) I was wondering why does it have to rain or thunder or lightening or snow or hail when we have to go out? Why can’t it just wait until we’re all home or at least sheltered in a safe place for the duration? Just think of all the ruined weddings, picnics, beach outings, MTV movie awards, Kentucky Derby races that could have been made better had the good weather just held on a little longer and kept the bad weather at bay. Imagine…

Today, we’re going to talk about telemarketers. Can you say telemarketer? Do you know what a telemarketer is? They are the rude people that call when you’re on your way out the door running late to work or spending time with your honey or eating dinner with your family or something else you’d rather be doing than wasting time on the phone with someone you didn’t want to talk to in the first place. The phone is ringing and ringing like a teapot that won’t stop and you have to run and get it so it’ll shut up. You finally get to it and pick it up and it’s a stranger asking you ever so sweetly if you’d like to give to the Children’s Fund for Lost Socks, Shoes, and Gloves. “Uh What?”

Telemarketing guy says, “Ma’am, I’m sure you’ve seen the billboards on the highway with the picture of a single lonely shoe on the back porch or the story of the single white sock among the pile of black ones on the radio. Well winter is here and we’d like to try to match up as many socks, shoes, and gloves for as many kids as possible so their little fingers and toes don’t freeze up and fall off. Can I put you down for a $50 donation?”

Pause, loading information into the brain… oops needs more ram. You say, “I have to go, could you please just send me the info in the mail and I’ll think about it?”

He says, “Sure, I’ll just need to ask you a few short questions and keep you on the phone another 30 min or until you are so annoyed your head explodes. Whichever comes first.”

The moral of the story is don’t bug people unless they bug you first. Come back next time and maybe there will be something to talk about, but maybe not. Y’all come back now, ya hear!?

I like this article for it’s change of point of view. I’m not sure who did what in this story, but they all deserve fair trials and punishment if truly guilty of doing something wrong. It’s a waste for an innocent person to go to jail and a guilty person to be set free. I’m thinking of writing the ambassador to tell him that much.

I judge movies based upon many things such as directors, actors, music, mood, plot(s), etc. If any one or more of these pieces should be weaker or stronger than the others, it can throw off the whole film. It is the difference between a movie I want to see again and a movie I won’t waste my time on a second time. Then there are subcategories: movies I’ll buy when they come to dvd and movies I might watch when they come out on cable in which case I won’t buy.

Since this is an election year and we have not much time left to get to the polls, I have some questions. If you know the answers, post them here and I may or may not hear you out, depending on which way the wind blows. If you are an American and a registered voter, you know you have to choose who will be our next leader, but what if none of the candidates are right for all of us? Can a “conservative” leader be the best choice for the rich and the poor people on the east and the west coast? What if maybe the younger people need a different kind of President than the older people? We’ve become so diverse as a nation, is there any way to satisfy us all?
