Villainy, thwarted time and time again
I put this up on my Tumblr earlier today, but just HAD to share it with you all here: Cracked.com presents: 7 badass cartoon villains who lost to retarded heroes!!!
The best part comes at the end, simultaneously humorous and thought-provoking. “While boys were taught that evil giant transforming robots could only be defeated with other giant transforming robots, girls were taught that evil could be defeated with the power of rainbows and flamboyant song and dance.” If that is the case, I think we need more giant transforming robots and choreography in life. And imagine if we fought evil with giant transforming rainbow-coloured robots who perform flamboyant songs and dance. The good we could accomplish could very well rid the entire world of villainy.
I read the entire article and wonder how exactly there isn’t more evil in the world, given that our heroes are such characters as Teddy Ruxpin, and the Care Bears?

A New Buffy Movie

When I saw the other day, at the Hollywood Reporter, that a new Buffy movie could be in the works, I screamed for joy a little on the inside. Back when I used to regularly watch TV, “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” was at the top of my schedule, followed closely by “Angel.” Yeah, I was a WB nerd. I even watched “Dawson’s Creek.” But I digress. There was more to my sheer excitement, however, than just a little inner child going, “Wheee!” for after I read the title, I saw the attached photo (of original Buffy Kristy Swanson) and then read the actual article.
The Perfectly Sane Show – Episode 4
In this episode we talk about what we’ve been up to gaming, movie and music wise as well as touch on J.J. Abrams involvement in a live action production of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series and realism in sports gaming before cutting it short rather abruptly. Listen to it at Vagary TV along with other great podcasts like Game Seers and The Game Over Podcast, or download it directly from iTunes (rate us).
Oh and we also try to give away a crappy game that may (or may not) have been responsible for my 360 breaking.
Music in this episode:
Alive and Kicking – Mr. Big
You’ve Got Another Thing Coming – Judas Priest
Fire Woman – The Cult

Hey, cool cats.
Just thought I’d let you know that Volumes 1 and 2 have been compressed and once Vol. 4 begins, Vol. 3 will receive the same treatment.
This is being done in an effort to save space on our meager little server space, and apologize for any inconveniences this may cause.
Love,
Jay V
WSW Presents: PWI Weekly

My Music Monday: Hoobastank
Welcome to My Music Mondays. Each week I will be delving into my music collection and looking at a new artist going somewhat randomly currently but eventually from A to Z. I’ll examine why I first started listening to them, my favorite album and my top 10 songs for the artist. As my music collection is pretty extensive and I have a lot of one offs, I have set a qualification to be featured here. That is that I have to have at least two albums of the artist’s music before they can be considered. This week I look at the band Hoobastank.
The funny thing about Hoobastank making it into this feature is that I am not a very big fan of their music. I first heard of the band when I caught the video for either “Crawling in the Dark” or “Running Away” one day in passing. It was an artist spotlight before the band had really hit it big. I bought their major label debut shortly thereafter and found I liked a good bit of it, even if a good majority of it was rather repetitive. For me, at the time it was a nice change of pace from the standard pop-punk bands that were permeating the airwaves. Hoobastank was a little bit harder and seemed to have a little more substance.
Then came their follow-up and the edge I thought the band had was gone. It’s not that their follow-up album was bad but it was more generic than their debut. You can tell a lot from a band’s sophomore album and what “The Reason” told me was Hoobastank was less about the rock and more about radio airplay hits. Don’t get me wrong, I have nothing wrong with popular music but the shift just threw me off, enough for me to ignore their third album completely, which by all accounts was just a more polished version of “The Reason” with even less rock. At that point I thought I was done with the band but early this year I was given their new album around the time of its release and was impressed that, at least in some respects, had returned to the form that started me in on them. For(n)ever was not enough to get me to really care about them anymore but it did put them back on my (sometimes limited) musical radar.
Favorite Album: Hoobastank
Their major label debut. Re-listening to it made me question why I once thought they were so hard (because they aren’t) but the songs I remember liking are still pretty damn good and fun to listen to. The rest of their catalog, not quite as impressive.
10 Favorite Songs
10. Escape
9. Out of Control
8. All About You
7. Pieces
6. Remember Me
5. The Reason
4. Ready For You
3. Same Direction
2. Running Away
1. Crawling in the Dark
So what do you think of Hoobastank?
3×05: Web…Trek…
(Editing Nick for explicit language is like shooting feathers in the sky, so once again be aware there’s a lot of cursing in this episode. again.)
In this episode . . . . Brady and Jay sit down with some websites . . . . . and then Nicholas and Chris talk about the Star Trek rebooquel that came out last month. There’s more, too, so check out the show today!

The Sidekick LX is Imminent!
(yeah, i know i wrote ‘eminent’ in the title before and it’s the wrong spelling, but it’s now fixed)
Way to drop the ball, Jay! I didn’t go into the detail I had wanted on my mobile phone history, and in just a couple short days, the 2009 Sidekick LX will be released upon an eager public.
I am part of that public. Horribly eager, as T-Mobile had informed me I’d be receiving it a week and a half after I’d made the pre-order, and then quickly placed in on ‘backorder’ status. After that it was a nightmare discussion with their Customer Care department, as they wouldn’t give me a straight answer about its shipping.
But all shall be well. I receive on May 12, and review on May 13. As promised, though, a few brief words on my old mobile phones.
oh my god pamela anderson!
If you want news that isn’t news, go check out x17 Online. Yesterday they posted a few photos of Pamela Anderson’s chins and today they have Rhianna, Anne Hathaway, and Tyra Banks on the front cover.
Anyway, I’m not a big fan of Anne Hathaway’s face—I mean, it’s okay for the first minute, but then it just starts to look weird! Does anyone know what I mean? But I digress. Now, with Rachel MacAdams, there’s a face I could stare at for hours! And in that one scene in State of Play when she was leaning over Russell Crowe’s cubicle to get a pen . . . . . Oh, but I digress. Again.
X17 Online, for when you honestly have nothing better to do with your life.

blame it on the rain
Hi all! I’ve been doing some thinking lately. (Yeah I know. Can’t hardly believe it huh?) I was wondering why does it have to rain or thunder or lightening or snow or hail when we have to go out? Why can’t it just wait until we’re all home or at least sheltered in a safe place for the duration? Just think of all the ruined weddings, picnics, beach outings, MTV movie awards, Kentucky Derby races that could have been made better had the good weather just held on a little longer and kept the bad weather at bay. Imagine…
Hung over? Bacon sandwich!
Lifehacker are the ones letting us know today. There’s a science behind it, but when you’ve had a jager bomb (or four) too many and feel like crap the next morning, what’s the best way to overcome that feeling? That’s right. Bacon sandwiches!
My solution—to drink a lot of water before you go to bed, thus re-hydrating yourself to minimize the effects of a hangover—is not nearly as delicious as this, so I think I will be adopting this new bacon sandwich strategy.
3×04: Summer Movie Preview 2009
We’re trying to get all excited about the summer movie season, because it’s got some hot movies! But it’s also got some duds. Brady, and Jay are joined by contributors Clause (pronounced like Klaus) and Nicholas to discuss what’s worth seeing, as well as what’s not worth seeing, starting today!
Also, Brady’s got another podcast; we talk about the swine flu (it was from Tuesday, so things may be outdated); and we think we have a Patricia sighting! Patricia, as you may recall, phoned in to last week’s episode with some weird question about loading.
