Web Comics

A while ago I wanted to do up my own comic strip. It would have been an online thing. I mean, who’d publish me, ya know? So I started to work here and there on ideas and sketches, when I realised I’m not a good artist. Then I thought to just find an artist, but then realised I’m not really a comic strip writer. So there went my plans to be a web comic guy.

However, I can enjoy good comics.I used to read MegaTokyo for a while. Two dudes, Piro and Largo, go to E3 in Japan. They get there and find out they have no way home. The real-life counterparts to the main characters, Fred Gallagher (Piro) and Rodney Caston (Largo), served as the writers while Fred did all the art. By the second year, Rodney left the project and MegaTokyo took on an entirely different style, one that I tried to follow but just couldn’t anymore. Before, it was a wacky black & white strip in the same vein as Penny Arcade and their ilk. After 2002 it became like a Japanese Manga comic book.

Lately, I swing by Garfield Minus Garfield, where Dan Walsh removed that fat, feline monstrosity and turned Jon Arbuckle into a crazy, lonely bloke who talks to himself. It became very big a couple of months ago, and it’s still going strong. It’s amazing what can happen when you just take everyone else out, how neurotic Jon becomes.

I don’t get out much, so I don’t read that toothpaste one, or This Modern World, or any of those other awesome web comics, but mostly it’s because I keep forgetting to look into them, unlike when I found Snafu’s Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi.

Mix Tapes

I’m thinking of putting together a mixtape and put it online . . . seeing as how the site uses Allan Cole’s awesome Mixtape theme. Maybe a bi-weekly mixtape.

Oh, if only

  1. I were good at making mixtapes
  2. I had the time to devote putting together entire mixtapes, twice a month

But life is about dreaming, right? So that’s my dream. Mixtapes.

And to think, when I was a child, my dream was being a lawyer.

Podcasting?

I was thinking about starting a podcast. This podcast would be about twelve minutes. The hosts could talk about whatever they want, do whatever they want. If they want to put on a three-act play about dinosaurs, complete with monster sound effects and gritty teeth, they could.

I imagined a podcast that had no boundaries, no limits. Because it has no format. And in that lack of conformity, the presence of art and tv and film and comic strips and bad bands and Christmas stories abound.

And not just those. There are a million stories that can be told, funny anecdotes to be shared. doom to be predicted.

Hello. Madam, I’m Adam. I’m not a palindrome, but I am a fictional creator of a new kind of podcast, hosted by Brady and Jay V. Stay tuned and you will know all.
